Title
Statistics in Pharmaceutical Research & Development
Abstract:
In pharmaceutical research and development, laboratory chemists and biologists studying a certain disease processs synthesize many compounds with the hope that some of these compounds can help patients suffering from this disease. If a compound demonstrates good efficacy and low toxicity, it will be approved for animal testing (non-clinical studies) and human testing (clinical studies). At every stage in this progression, statistics is an important tool, playing an essential role in both non-clinical and clinical studies.
