Response to a Request for Statistical Consulting: When someone contacts the Center for assistance, he/she will be interviewed to determine their specific needs. Based upon the interview, the interviewer will propose one of the following:

The UCI Center for Statistical Consulting can provide the needed service: When the Center staff can meet the needs identified in the initial interview then the Center will offer its services for that purpose.

The UCI Center for Statistical Consulting can provide a referral: When the Center staff cannot meet the needs identified in the initial interview, then the Center will provide the interviewee with the name and phone number of a statistical consultant who is qualified to assist with the problem presented.

Statistical Software Information and Training. The Center responds to inquiries concerning the acquisition and use of various statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, JMP, SPSS, and NQuery). It also houses printed documentation for several of these software packages. Finally, occasionally, the Center presents training courses for campus research staff and students on how to use these statistical software packages.

Statistical Information Clearinghouse. The Center will develop and maintain a public information service.

Statistics education at UCI. The Center’s WEB page will provide a complete listing of all statistics courses currently offered at UCI and University Extension. It will also record requests for courses not offered and, once a substantial constituency has been identified, arrange for the course.

Presentations about statistics at UCI. The Center will sponsor applied statistics colloquia and will provide a listing of other seminars and colloquia on statistics at UCI on our WEB site.
